Relocation of King George Art Guild 1976 Bi-Centennial Paintings

News for the King George Art Community!

A collection of paintings (that have been on public display in King George County since 1976) are in the process of finding new homes.  These 13 Bi-Centennial paintings were presented by the artists in 1976 to King George County and were intended to remain on public display in the King George County Courthouse in perpetuity; however, renovations and restructuring of spaces has resulted in the removal and relocation of some of these artworks.  Take a look at the slideshow below to view the works and learn more.

Note that the collection was photographed by Ms. Carrol Morgan at King George County Courthouse on January 9, 2019.  *Five paintings # 9 - 13 remain installed on walls in the King George County Courthouse hallways.  The first seven paintings (# 1 – 7) are being relocated on March 20, 2019, to the Lewis E. Smoot Memorial Library for public display (signed agreement) and the #8 painting of the ”King George County Boundaries Map” by Dick Gros has been installed in the King George Board of Supervisors’ Boardroom of the Rivercomb Building (signed agreement dated March 13, 2019). Carrol Morgan is the point of contact for any questions or information on this topic.
